It is fair to say that the cross is the most visible and enduring images of all religions. It is doubtful that any civilized person on any continent does not recognize the cross as the symbol associated with Jesus and Christianity. It is a common image found in art, music, books and preaching. Even for non-Christians, it has a reputation for supernatural power that can heal and save people from sin. It is at one time a symbol of both death and life.

Here are New Testament scriptures about the cross:

1 Corinthians 1:17-18  For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void. 18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
