Forum contributors are encouraged to use scripture to support their observations about religion. Moderators recommend http://www.biblestudytools.com/ as a very good on-line Bible tool for people who do not already have a preference.

Some people who make forum comments may not know how to link a  scripture to their comments. The following steps explain the process:

  1. Find the scriptures you want to cite in your comments in http://www.biblestudytools.com/ or your preferred online Bible study tool.
  2. Find the address bar for your browser (e.g. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) It is located at the top of the page to the right of the forward and back arrows and begins with “www.”
  3. While you have the scripture you want to quote displayed in your browser, find the address of that scripture in the address bar. For example: Genesis 1:1  appears as http://www.biblestudytools.com/nas/genesis/1-1.html in biblestudytools.com.
  4. Highlight the address of the scripture you want to cite by placing the cursor anywhere in the address and right-clicking your mouse.
  5. In the drop-down box, click “copy” to copy the address.
  6.  Go to the forum in which you want to comment.
  7. In the top line click “Subscribe.”
  8. In the box for “Topic Title”, enter a short name for your topic.
  9. Enter your comments in the open area beneath the row of formatting boxes.
  10. If you want to cite a scripture that supports your comments, highlight the comment or the scripture citation (e.g. Genesis 1:1) to which the scripture applies. Do this by running the cursor across the word or words to which the scripture applies.
  11. Find the “link” box in the row of formatting boxes above the comment area and click on it.
  12. In the “Insert/edit link” pop-up box, paste the address for the scripture in the space to the right of “URL.” In our example the address is: http://www.biblestudytools.com/nas/genesis/1-1.html
  13. Click “Add Link” in the box in the lower right-hand corner of the “Insert/edit link” pop-up box.
  14. Look in the comments area and find that the word or words (Genesis 1:1 in our example) to which the link applies are now surrounded with computer code that looks like this:  <a href=”http://www.biblestudytools.com/nas/genesis/1-1.html”>Genesis 1:1</a>. This code will disappear when you submit your comment.
  15. Finish making comments in the forum.
  16. Click “Submit” in the lower, right-hand corner of page.
  17. Review your comments and links in the actual forum post. If you want to make any changes (e.g. Edit, Delete) in your comments, click on the appropriate box above the content area and make your changes.
  18. Make other changes (i.e. Forum, Topic Type and Topic Status) and click boxes as you choose.
  19. Click “Submit” in the lower, right-hand corner and you are  finished.
